Dr. Israel Habibu – Librarian

Dr. Israel Habibu is the first substantive Librarian of the Taraba State University, Jalingo.

He obtained his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in library and information science from the University of Maiduguri before proceeding to the famous University of Wolverhampton, in the United Kingdom for a Master’s Degree in Information Technology Management where he graduated with a distinction. He further went to the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Abia State where he obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Library and Information.

He is a Certified Librarian of Nigeria (CLN) with the Librarians’ Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN) and the current Chairperson, Nigerian Library Association, Taraba State Chapter. Before he was appointed University Librarian, Dr Idris was a Chief Librarian at the Taraba State Polytechnic, Jalingo where he served in different capacities.

He is a media specialist and an ICT guru. He has published in various local and international journals including books and book chapters. His research interest includes Information and Communication Technology, Academic and School Librarianship, Library Automation, Open Education Resource, Institutional Repository, Library Administration and Management. Dr Israel Habibu Idris is happily married with three children.
